Crete. Even the name sounds like a promise. A promise of sunshine, turquoise waters, golden beaches, the scent of wild herbs in the air - and lively tavernas. But Crete is more. Much more. 

It’s a multifaceted island full of stories, nature, culture, and living traditions. Crete is a place with warm-hearted people and hidden spots that only reveal their soul when you're ready to discover them with an open heart. And that's exactly what we - Emma and Jiannis - want to share with you.

I, Emma, was born and raised in Germany. The stories my father told and the unforgettable moments with my grandparents awakened a longing in me, even as a child, to one day live "forever" in Crete.
 

And then... almost 15 years ago, I took the leap: I left Germany behind - to arrive in the place where my heart had always felt at home. Here, I've learned to live more calmly but more intensely, to enjoy the moment, and to take nothing in life for granted.
 

And yes - I had to leave my German punctuality at the border. Because in Crete, time runs differently. Especially when it comes to tradespeople and government offices. "We'll come tomorrow" can mean many things here. What once pushed me to my limits now makes me smile. Because in Crete, everything gets done - in the Cretan way.

While I was building my new life and trying to combine Greek serenity with German precision and organization, Jiannis - my husband - came into my life. And it was as if life had brought us together at exactly the right moment.

Jiannis, born in the beautiful port city of Preveza, is a professional diver - and a person with a heart that could hardly be bigger. Through his work, he had already gotten to know - and love - Crete. When we met, his favorite place became his second home. And two people became one shared path.

My experiences as the host of a Crete travel magazine, and the chance to help people with questions about travel or life on the island, ultimately led us to a decision: Cretantour - our passion project.
 

For us, Cretantour is the most heartfelt way to share the magic of this dreamy island with you. The special places. The genuine encounters. The little everyday wonders. Because Crete is not just a travel destination - it’s a piece of the soul.
